Using Social Media Effectively in a Political Campaign



With the announcement of Donald Trump returning to Facebook, it is a win-win for Donald Trump (money), a win for Facebook (money), and a loss for the American voter (alternative truths). But, there is no doubt, a social media presence is critical to winning campaigns, whether it is Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or TikTok. Former President Barack Obama was the first national candidate to incorporate social media


effectively into a political campaign helping him to win a wider audience for his message. Since, 2008, however, social media has become the number one source for news by many consumers (read potential voters). According to the PEW Research Center, the top social networks for news information are Twitter (53%), Facebook (44%), and Reddit (37%) with TikTok catching up at 33%


As a candidate, you can grow your audience through social media, expand your messaging, and promote your causes......etc.
